Everything you need to transfer your domain to FluxHoster

Understanding Domain Transfer

A domain transfer moves your domain registration from your current registrar to FluxHoster. This process typically takes 5-7 days and requires you to unlock your domain and obtain an authorization code.

Why transfer to FluxHoster?
  • Unified management: hosting + domain in one place
  • Automatic DNS configuration
  • Competitive pricing and renewal rates
  • 24/7 support from our team

Step 1: Unlock Your Domain

Before you can transfer your domain, you must unlock it at your current registrar. Here's how to do it at popular registrars:

GoDaddy

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account
  2. Go to My Products > Domains
  3. Click on the domain you want to transfer
  4. Scroll down to Additional Settings
  5. Click Edit next to "Domain lock"
  6. Toggle the lock to Off

Namecheap

  1. Sign in to your Namecheap account
  2. Go to Domain List
  3. Click Manage next to your domain
  4. Find Domain Lock section
  5. Click Unlock

Google Domains / Squarespace

  1. Log in to your account
  2. Select your domain
  3. Go to Registration settings
  4. Under Domain lock, toggle it to Off

Other Registrars

If your registrar isn't listed above:

  • Look for "Domain Lock", "Transfer Lock", or "Registrar Lock" in your domain settings
  • Check your registrar's support documentation
  • Contact their support team if you need assistance
Important Timing Note

After unlocking, wait 5-10 minutes before requesting the authorization code. Some registrars need time to process the unlock.

Step 2: Get Your Authorization Code

The authorization code (also called EPP code or transfer key) proves you own the domain. Once your domain is unlocked:

  1. Navigate to your domain's management page
  2. Look for "Authorization Code", "EPP Code", or "Transfer Code"
  3. Click to reveal or email the code to yourself
  4. Copy and save this code securely
Code Delivery

Most registrars will email the authorization code to the domain's admin email address. Check your spam folder if you don't see it within a few minutes.

Example Authorization Code:
ABC123XYZ789-def456

Step 3: Start Your Transfer

Once you have your authorization code and your domain is unlocked:

  1. Go back to your FluxHoster Dashboard
  2. Click the Domains tab
  3. Enter your domain in the transfer form
  4. Paste your authorization code
  5. Select your current registrar
  6. Submit the transfer request
What Happens Next?
  • We'll verify your authorization code
  • Your current registrar will send an approval email
  • Approve the transfer (speeds up the process!)
  • Transfer completes in 5-7 days (or sooner if approved)

Step 4: Approve the Transfer

After submitting your transfer request:

  1. Check the email address associated with your domain
  2. Look for an email from your current registrar about the transfer
  3. Click the approval link in the email (this speeds up the transfer!)
  4. If you don't approve, the transfer will automatically complete after 5 days
Don't See the Email?
  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Verify the admin email address on file with your registrar
  • Contact your current registrar if no email arrives within 24 hours

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a transfer take?

Domain transfers typically take 5-7 days. However, if you approve the transfer via the email from your current registrar, it can complete in as little as a few hours.

Will I lose time on my domain registration?

No! When you transfer a domain, you keep all your remaining time, and most transfers add an additional year to your registration.

Will my website go down during transfer?

No, your website will remain online throughout the transfer process. Your DNS settings stay the same unless you change them.

Can I cancel a transfer?

Yes, you can cancel a transfer by declining it through the email from your current registrar, or by contacting them directly within the first 5 days.

What if my domain was registered in the last 60 days?

Domains registered within the last 60 days are locked and cannot be transferred. This is an ICANN policy to prevent fraud. You'll need to wait until the 60-day period expires.
